- Problem: Short edges | Most recently: I will have to continue keeping close attention to my edges over the next few months to see if they are improving, so far I have still avoiding tight ponytails. Additionally, I have been applying Jamaican castor oil to my edges a few times a week.
- Problem: Frizz | Most recently: I have invested in a new scarf which I wear at night but I accidentally bought satin fabric instead of silk...I'll make another trip to the fabric store soon. I also make sure to moisturize(Ingredients revealed soon) and braid my hair at night. The combined methods seem to be my answer!
- Problem: Itchy scalp | Most recently: I discovered that there was an absence of H20 to my routine. I had been avoiding my original hair spritz I made after my big chop(glycerin, aloe vera gel, rose water, and water mixture that my hair was in love with that first summer) because I thought it was causing my twists to frizz prematurely. I opted to make a concoction of new and old by beating together shea butter, glycerin, aloe vera gel, rosemary, and coconut oil. The aloe vera gel was the hydration my scalp really needed. I then sealed with castor oil. My hair feels softer and my scalp is a lot less itchy.
My roommate gave me the shampoo and conditioner from the Madame C. Walker line I mentioned a while ago. When I wash my hair I normally get a ton of hair in my drain and I always feel like I'm losing way too much. This time I gave myself a rosemary & EVOO hot oil treatment. Then tried washing my hair in braid that were very loose by the root like in this video
This detangling/washing/conditioning method worked great for me and I will be sticking to it.

Hair Confusion
I have been searching for staple products for years now, looking to find the ones that "work" for me. What the heck does that mean exactly. Not brittle?...uh none of my products leave my hair brittle. Besides that....what are other ways beyond the shine of ur hair that lets u know ur doing something right. Breakage hasn't been a problem since I've been natural so that doesn't help. Spilt ends?...maybe I could be more aware of that if I actually looked at my ends more often(Yea that's definitely on my lists of things to do).
I think my main obstacle is that I'm trying to kick all commercial products to the curb. This is in regards to my hair, face, body(including lotions), and maybe even deodorant. This has been a hard task, not so much because I like all the products I already have so much but because I'm too cheap to throw it all away lol. I currently have a few commercial products left, but the majority of my tote of products are oils, shea butter, black soap, castile soap, acv, and the list continues.
I've been told so many things about what our hair needs from so many ppl I don't know who to trust now lol. I'm worried that I'm going to f up my hair to tell u the truth. Maybe I should continue with my trial and error and cross my fingers that nothing will go wrong.
Soooo I'm definitely still looking for a few concoctions(or a element) for the following:
Hair
Face

Hair
- Deep Condish(Do I really even need it now?)
- Hair Moisturizer/Leave-In(Is it true that an oil might be all I need? If u can prepoo with just castor/coconut/evoo/jojoba oils and it does wonders with ur moisture after washing it out y can't I use it as a moisturizer on a frequent basis?)
Face
- Mild Face Moisturizer (Both Coconut and Shea Butter break my face out on during warm months)
- Toner(I'm using ACV and it keeps my face ok just ok)

In new news
Hope your week is starting off well. Spring is finally here!!!! This coming up weekend is Easter Sunday and I get to go home and do a little celebrating. My family always goes out for breakfast the weekend of my grandma's birthday, which is this one, so I get to see all my fam!!! Also, I get to go admire my new nephew...at only a month old number 9 already has such a personality.
Protective Styling? As much as I love wearing my hair in a puff I need to keep up my protective styling for many reasons. One reason being....I'm working out again! Yea I fell off the wagon last year but Im hopping back on with hopes of losing my tummy. I plan on doing cowashes or rinses(with only water) after my workouts. Also, I have to tell you about my little nightmare. So after three weeks I washed my straighten hair. Let me add it was my first time straightening since being natural. After my first wash my hair felt HORRIBLE. It felt brittle and my curls that I love so much were a hot mess. After complaining to my bestie she enlightened me with the knowledge that I needed to wash my hair a few times for it restore all the way to my natural state...whewww so I thought. At the time, I wasn't at home and I had virtually no products with me. I took a trip to Sally's and bought a moisturizer that I had never used. Thankfully it did the job.

Head to Toe Care
So, I was watching Black Onyx's facial regime video and it was great. It inspired to switch it up a bit. Here's my skin regime:
face
I've been using this Ambi stuff for a couple of days and Im loving it. I use it opposite to my apricot scrub. Meaning if I use Ambi at night and I will use apricot in the mornings or vice versa. I pour acv and water in my sink. Usually about 1 part acv to 3 parts water. I rinse my face 20 times. Then wipe my face with a clean towel.
I also will be adding jojoba oil to my face regime. I have only been using it by it self since last night and I LOVE IT!!! I've never seen anything work so fast.
